It’s Apple Picking Time
Join Faye to learn where to go apple picking while she demonstrates how to make her apple pie. Enjoy a slice of pie with cold or warm apple cider and exchange recipes. 7 p.m. at the LPL. Must register.

Thursday, Sept. 15

Meet in the MiddleLevCal_091416B 
Join the LPL’s new club just for middle schoolers. Come hang out, socialize and work on fun activities and games. Sept. 15 and 29 from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. Registration for LUFSD teens in grades 6-8 begins two weeks prior to each session.

Saturday, Sept. 17

Bike Safety Rodeo Program
This free program featuring bicycles and safety tips for children in kindergarten through junior high will run from 9 a.m. to noon. Children must bring their own bike. Safety rules are discussed and bikes will be checked for safety. Free helmets will be distributed as well as reflective vests and other items. An adult must accompany the child. Rain or shine at the Parkway Community Church at 95 Stewart Ave., Hicksville. Call 516-938-1233 to register.

Learn to play chess from a member of the Long Island Industrial Chess League. Experienced players are also welcome. $8 for 8 classes. From 10 a.m. to noon in the community room at the ITPL.

Bideawee’s 34th annual Pet Memorial Day

Minecraft Mondays
Explore Minecraft EDU at the LPL. Build something in the creative world and print it out on the 3D printer or play on the survival world. Mondays, Sept. 19 and 26, from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. Registration for LUFSD teens for each session begins one week prior.

How the 2016 Elections May Change the Political Parties
Dr. Rosanna Perotti, chair of the Political Science Department of Hofstra University, will address this topic at the meeting of The League of Women Voters of East Nassau. It will take place at the LPL at 7:30 p.m. The program is cosponsored by the Levittown Library. Be prepared for an interesting and lively discussion after the presentation. Rabies Clinic
On Sept. 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Last Hope Animal Rescue ( will be holding a free rabies vaccine clinic for dogs and cats at the Last Hope Adoption Center, 3300 Beltagh Ave., Wantagh 11793. All Long Island pet owners are eligible; no appointment necessary, but all pets must be at least 4 months old. Dogs must be leashed, and cats need to be in carriers. Dogs must be dog and people-friendly. Bring paper certificate proof of a recent rabies shot, if you are planning on asking for a 3-year, rather than 1-year rabies vaccine certificate for your dog or cat. Levittown Community Council
The Levittown Community Council meets the fourth Monday of every month at the Levittown Public Library at 7:30 p.m. Meetings are open to the public and free. The Sept. 26 meeting will feature various volunteer groups (Kiwanis, Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, W/L Ambulance Corp, etc.) that will speak to the community regarding their organization.
